Parents arrested after police say drugs found in home

On Behalf of | Aug 17, 2018 | Firm News |

Two Radcliff parents were arrested after police executed a search warrant at their home. According to a news report, police said they found multiple types of drugs and paraphernalia in the master bedroom after the couple had allegedly attempted to hide the evidence. Those drugs included heroin, marijuana, and methamphetamines. There is no mention of whether police received a tip of drug activity, or if another situation took place which led to a search warrant being issued.

In addition, police discovered that the couple’s 15-year-old son was also consuming the controlled substances, and that the couple were aware of it. The exact substance that the teen consumed has not been publicly identified.

The couple were arrested and charged with multiple offenses including trafficking in both marijuana and methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance which was identified as heroin, engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor, and tampering with physical evidence.

Stories such as this one can seem shocking, and news reports often give a negative impression of the accused. The full story may be more complicated. It’s important to remember that those accused of crimes have the right to a defense.

If found guilty of these charges, the parties will face a lengthy prison sentence in addition to fines and other penalties. It is unknown where the child was taken to at this time, or if he is being treated for any chemical dependency. In these situations, the guidance of an experienced criminal law attorney can be helpful in minimizing the damage these charges can do to one’s liberty and future.
